Director of Product

Product Contract Remote

About the role

Our customers are warehouse operators and wholesale distributors who've outgrown spreadsheets but can't afford Fishbowl or NetSuite. Your job is to understand their workflows better than they do and build software that makes running a warehouse feel simple. The core product covers inventory, purchasing, sales orders, and fulfillment — but there's a large surface area of customer-specific edge cases and adjacent problems we haven't tackled. You'll own the roadmap, lead the product team, and be the person with a credible answer to "what do we build next and why." This is both strategy and execution: you'll run your own customer discovery calls, write specs engineers can build from, and ship — not just roadmap.

What you'll do

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap end-to-end: quarterly priorities, the "why now" for each item, and what you're explicitly not building and why
  • Run 10+ customer and prospect calls per month yourself — not delegated to CS — to gut-check roadmap decisions with real data from real operators
  • Write specs that engineers can implement without a follow-up meeting: acceptance criteria, edge cases, wireframes, and an explicit out-of-scope section
  • Define success metrics for every major feature before it ships; measure whether it landed and report back to the team honestly
  • Lead sprint reviews and be the person who says "this isn't ready to ship" when it isn't — and explains exactly what would make it ready
  • Build and lead the product team as it grows: 1:1s, career development, and protecting engineers from scope creep that kills momentum
  • Own the public roadmap on the website — make promises you intend to keep, explain delays when they happen, and never let it go stale

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years in product management, including 2+ years leading other PMs or owning a full product area end-to-end
  • A track record of shipping outcomes, not just features — you can name a metric that moved because of something you built and explain what you measured
  • Strong customer instincts backed by direct evidence: you run your own discovery, not just review research someone else did
  • Enough technical depth to read a schema, reason about EF Core migration tradeoffs, and earn engineering trust without needing hand-holding

Nice to have

  • Experience with B2B, SMB, or operations / ERP / inventory software
  • Background working in or near a warehouse, distributor, manufacturer, or 3PL — you've seen the actual workflows
  • Experience running a public, customer-facing roadmap and managing the expectations that come with it
