Custom Solutions Integration Engineer

Professional Services Contract Remote

About the role

Some customers need more than the standard product: a sync to their QuickBooks account, a custom import from a supplier's EDI feed, a webhook integration with their Shopify store, or a one-off workflow built specifically for how their warehouse runs. You're the engineer who scopes and builds those. You're equally comfortable running a requirements call with an operations director and writing the C# service that handles OAuth 2.0, pagination, and retry logic correctly. These are paid professional services engagements, so accurate scoping and not overbuilding are as important as the quality of the code itself.

What you'll do

  • Scope integrations in writing before writing a line of code: estimate hours, call out technical risks, and get customer sign-off on the spec
  • Build C# integration services against REST, webhook, and EDI endpoints — code that handles OAuth 2.0 or API key auth, pagination, rate limits, and transient failures gracefully
  • Test against sandbox and production endpoints; document credentials, rate limits, and known API quirks in a runbook the next engineer can follow without asking you
  • Run your own customer demos: screen-share the working integration, explain what triggers it, and hand off documentation the customer can use without you in the room
  • Track recurring integration requests and push the top patterns into the core product roadmap each quarter — stop building the same bespoke integration twice
  • Work directly with customers to gather requirements, set scope boundaries clearly, and manage expectations when an external API doesn't behave as documented

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years integration or backend engineering with REST APIs and common data formats — JSON, CSV, XML, and ideally EDI 850/856
  • Strong C# / .NET and SQL; you know what a 429 response means for your retry strategy and how to write a webhook handler that's idempotent even when the same event fires twice
  • Customer-facing instincts: you can run a requirements call, set scope expectations clearly, and explain a technical constraint without losing the customer's confidence
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous, one-of-a-kind problems from spec to production without needing step-by-step direction

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online or Xero, or e-commerce platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce
  • Webhook, OAuth 2.0, and ETL pipeline experience — you've dealt with the edge cases, not just the happy path
  • Background in ERP, inventory, logistics, or distribution data — you know what a PO, a receipt, and a 3PL handoff look like
